Dear Friends of MaLode,

What’s up for the 2021 rafting and camping season? Glad you asked!

I’m happy to say we are back and kicking off the 2021 season. Our staff is fully vaccinated and raring to get out there to show you some outdoor fun!

This season we are concentrating on our most popular whitewater trip, the Gorge. A beginner-friendly splash fest down classic Class II-III rapids, this trip meets at noon. We provide the guide, raft, gear and shuttle — you bring your own lunch. Booking is by the boatload, which means you pay for a boat and guide, and bring up to 6 friends or family members. There are no surprises, because every person in your boat is already in your “pod,” and the guide is vaccinated.

Booking this way means your trip organizer can take measures before your trip to avoid COVID exposure on the river. The only people in your boat will be the crew you selected. No random people dropped into your boat…period.

You may already know that MaLode has a truly exceptional campsite on the banks of the South Fork of the American River, with lots of room to socially distance and relax. We’re committed to keeping you safe, and thus are capping our rafting, camping, and bus capacity at half our normal numbers so that everyone has room to spread out. This season we are also featuring campsite booking packages that include a canvas “glamping” platform cabin-tent, a second tent site, and enough space to comfortably camp up to six people. Want more space for a larger group? No worries, you can book additional campsites.

Bottom line, come join us on the river and remember that Mother Lode has the reputation for not only being the safest company on the river – it is also the most fun!

See you on the river,
Scott Underwood
